French River Connection

VISION:

The vision of the French River Connection is for the French River and its shoreline to become a resource that is used, enjoyed, and treasured by residents and visitors to the French River region. The river's natural and cultural heritage will be appreciated and protected, recreational gatherings along the river will be encouraged, and the economic benefits of a healthy, active riverfront will be realized.

2012 GENERAL MEETING SCHEDULE

April 11 (annual meeting) 7pm at the Black Tavern in Dudley. Lois Bruinooge from The Last Green Valley will present that organization's Water Trails project.

SPRING CLEANUP

The Webster-Dudley Business Alliance is organizing town-wide cleanups for Webster and Dudley April 28 and 29. Current Plans are tohave a dumpster at Webster town hall Saturday 8-1 and Sunday 8-noon. Registration for the event, which is funded in part by The Last Green Valley, will be from 8-9 at the Webster town hall.

DAM TRAIL RACE  Saturday August 4

Volunteers are needed at 8am-11am on race day to park cars, man water stops, and monitor the course.  Contact Ken to volunteer

2012 WATER QUALITY MONITORING CAMPAIGN

Volunteers are needed for one Saturday morning on a schedule to be determined. Several dates will be available during the summer months. This is a good family activity.  Contact Ken to volunteer.

WHAT DO WE DO?

Monitor the water quality in the French River

watershed in Massachusetts, with over

5000 separate data points recorded

Conduct cleanups of the French River, with over five miles of riverbank cleaned and tons of trash collected.

Discourage beavers, by placing woven wire barriers around more than 400 trees

Construct riverside trails, such as the

Perryville Trace

Construct cartop paddling access points, such as at Leovich Landing, and French River Park

Construct multi-use community

amenities such as French River

Park

We are currently changing our website host. This INTUIT Homestead site is no longer being maintained and will disappear soon. This change will  make our website more amenable to maintenance by multiple people.
